Latest Compulsory Quarantine Arrangement – 17 March 2020
Effective 19 March 2020, all arrivals (regardless of nationality) will undergo a 14-day home quarantine, except for the arrivals who have been the following countries / areas in the past 14 days, they will be sent to quarantine centre for quarantine.
Hong Kong Immigration Policy Update – 18 February 2020
In light of the coronavirus outbreak, the Hong Kong Immigration Department (“HKID”) only provides limited services to the public until 23 February 2020. In this connection, all submitted applications will be subject to prolonged processing time.
14-day Quarantine Order
According to the current quarantine order, person will be subject to mandatory quarantine for 14 days if he/she is arriving Hong Kong from the Mainland China, or has visited the Mainland China within the last 14 days prior to arrival in Hong Kong.
Employment and Dependent Visa Applications / Training Visa Applications
The responsible section at HKID for the above application is currently closed. At present, all new entry applications can be submitted centrally through the “Receipt and Despatch Sub-Unit” centrally of the HKID. Due to the temporary closure of the relevant section, no visa label will be issued until further notice.
Visa Extension Applications
HKID only accepts visa extension applications within 4 weeks before the visa expiry date. The current processing time is approximate one to two weeks. Applicants are required to be physically present in Hong Kong on both days of application submission and subsequent visa endorsement.
Change of Employment Applications
The HKID only accepts change of employment application under the admission scheme for mainland talents and professionals (輸入內地人才計劃) if the applicants’ visa will be expiring within three month.
At present, HKID still accepts change of employment applications for foreigners or overseas Chinese.
HKSAR Passport / HKID Card Applications
HKID only accepts urgent HKSAR passport application, replacement of identity cards due to loss/damage, first registration of identity cards for new arrivals to Hong Kong and collection of HKSAR passport and HKID cards.
Immigration Policy on Entry of Dependants Revised – 19 September 2018
Under the revised policy, the immigration department will favourably consider a dependant visa application from a person who has entered into a same-sex civil partnership, same-sex civil union, same-sex marriage, opposite-sex civil partnership or opposite-sex civil union outside Hong Kong with an eligible sponsor in accordance with the local law in force of the place of celebration and with such status being legally and officially recognised by the local authorities of the place of celebration. Such relationships do not include de facto spouse, partners in cohabitation, finance, etc. Apart from the above, all other original eligibility criteria of the Policy remain unchanged.
Hong Kong Training Visa Extension Application – 8 August 2017
Generally, the Hong Kong Immigration Department will not approve an application to extend Hong Kong training visas. Only in exceptional situation, the Immigration Department may consider to exercise their discretion to extend Hong Kong training visas. Please take note of this when preparing the training documents for the training visa application.
Pre-arrival Registration for Indian Nationals – 22 December 2016
With effect from 23 January 2017, Indian nationals must successfully complete pre-arrival online registration before visiting and transiting (if seeking to enter Hong Kong during transit) Hong Kong visa free provided the following criteria are met:
Subject to normal immigration requirements being met, the following categories of Indian nationals may visit Hong Kong without pre-arrival registration:
A pre-arrival registration is normally valid for six month period or until the expiry date of the Indian passport linked to it, whichever is earlier. During the validity of the registration, the registrant may make multiple visits to Hong Kong visa-free and stay in Hong Kong for up to 14 days.
